The Basics
Do you have my date available?
The most important question. We do have a lot of events, so make sure we can be part of your day.
How far in advance do I need to book with you?
Most of our clients book us a minimum of three months in advance. The faster, the better is the best way to book us.
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business for five years now. Our main photographer has been shooting weddings for over 10 years.
How many weddings have you shot? Have you done many that were similar to mine in size and style?
We take pictures at around 25-35 weddings a year. MG Photography has been taking pictures at weddings that were from 50 people to 400. Depending on your wedding size and style, we make sure that we bring enough photographers to make sure we cover your day.
How would you describe your photography style ?
Our style of photography is a combination between traditional and photojournalistic photography. We offer to our clients prewedding consultations to make sure that we know how you like your wedding to be captured.
How would you describe your working style?
Here at MG Photography, we want our clients to feel comfortable and be able to enjoy their day. We do ask every client in our wedding consultation questions regarding how comfortable are they with us being there. We inquire about where you would like us to be at the reception, getting ready and during the ceremony.
What do you think distinguishes your work from that of other photographers?
Our photography style is the simple answer. We do like to take images that will look good on the cover of Brides magazine. We always try to create unique memories for our clients.
Do you have a portfolio I can review?
Yes we do. To see samples of our work please go to our PORTFOLIO page, we have examples of all our types of photography.
What type of equipment do you use?
We use Canon equipment. We personally like they`re products.
Are you shooting in digital or film format or both?
We shoot in digital format only.
Can I give you a list of specific shots we would like?
Yes, we really appriciate when our clients get creative. We always have the client first and its wishes.
Can you put together a slideshow of the engagement session (along with other photos the couple provides) and show it during the cocktail hour? What about an "instant" slideshow of the ceremony?
We do have that option available for our packages. We can project images from your engagement and instant within minutes of taking the images.
What information do I need to provide you before the wedding day?
On the wedding day there are no other information that we should require at that point. Most of the questions regarding your wedding we will have on file by that time, trough our 4 week and 1 week checkup in which we ask all the details and find out every small detail regarding your wedding.
Have you ever worked with my florist? DJ? Coordinator, etc.?
We had the pleasure of working with many vendors over the years. We have strong connections with videographers and dj`s in the NY and NJ area.
May I have a list of references?
Certainly, we do have a references list available for you.
The wedding day shoot
Are you the photographer who will shoot my wedding? If so, will you have any assistants with you on that day? If not, who will be taking the pictures and can I meet them before my wedding?
In 90% of the cases, Mihai our main photographer is going to be the photographer that will take pictures at your event. If we do have a double booking, you will meet with the photographer that will be taking pictures at your wedding so you can know him and see his photography style.
Do you have backup equipment? What about a backup plan if you (or my scheduled photographer) are unable to shoot my wedding for some reason?
We have backup equipment for all the gear that we bring to a wedding. We do have backup photographer in case of an personal emergency (sickness or seroius personal problems) and in the unfortunate case that happens, we do offer you a discount for the inconvinience. In our 5 years of practice, we only had one time when we were not able to be there with the photographer that you have booked.
If my wedding site is out of your area, do you charge a travel fee and what does that cover?
We offer wedding photography free of travel charge in the New York City area and New Jersey area. We do not charghe any travel fees up to 50 miles from our office. In the case that your wedding is over 50 miles from our location, we charge a minimum travel fee. In the case is at a greater distance then 200 miles, we charge a daily fee of travel that includes the flight there and the cost of spending a day at that location. The average pricing for a day outside our radius if we have to travel consists of the flight ticket, rental car and the hotel plus a 150$ day allowence.
How will you (and your assistants) be dressed?
We have a dress code here at MG Photography. We do not accept our staff to wear jeans, snickers, tshirts or hats. Our outfit for any event will be dark coloured and as discrete as possible.
Is it okay if other people take photos while you're taking photos?
Yes. We do not have any problem with other people taking photographs at your wedding. We even have a SNAPSHOT package that will get you a selected number of digital cameras, if you wish to have a snapshot album as well.
Have you ever worked at my wedding site before? If not, do you plan to check it out in advance?
We had the pleasure of working at numerous wedding locations in the New York and New Jersey area. If your location is a place that we did not had the pleasure of working before at it, we do a scouting of the location, prior to the event to find proper locations for your wedding and find out the equipment that we will require to bring to make sure that we are ready for any situations.
What time will you arrive at the site and for how long will you shoot?
We arrive usually a minimum of 1 hour in advance when we do photography and 2 hours when we have the photobooth and the instant showing of wedding photography to set up.
If my event lasts longer than expected, will you stay? Is there an additional charge?
We are not time restricted and we do want to make sure that we capture your day completely and not make you stress about the timeline. In the case that the wedding lasts longer than expected, we will come and ask for your permission to keep photographing it. There is a charge for additional time.
Packages, proofs, prints, contracts and policies
What packages do you offer?
We offer packages for every budget. We do understand that you are working on a budget and we strive to offer to our wedding clients an option to get everything that they want made, in such a way that they stay within budget. Can I customize a package based on my needs?
Yes, you can customize every package to fit your specific needs. We have a full range of services and we want to make sure that you get everything that you need.
Do you include engagement photos in your packages?
We do have a selection of packages that include engagement packages. If the wedding package you choose does not has an engagement session included, we offer discounts if you book it as an addition to your wedding package.
What type of album designs do you offer? Do you provide any assistance in creating an album?
We offer wedding albums for all our packages. We have two album companies that we work: Leather Craftsmen and AdoramaPix. We do create your wedding albums at no charge. We do offer standard templates with no extra charge.
Do you provide retouching, color adjustment or other corrective services?
We do offer retouching, color adjustment and other corrective services. For every package you have a number of images that you will be asked to select via our client proofing webpage to have custom made and edited. Usually that number is the number of the images that we will use on your album.
How long after the wedding will I get the proofs? Will they be viewable online? On a CD?
Our processing for your wedding images is as following:
Within 5 business days of your wedding, you will receive your personal proofing web page. This page is designed to make you select the wedding images that you would like included in your album and to be able to send us any comments or suggestions that you might have regarding your album or webpage. This page is password protected and made available trough web and mobile devices browsing.
Within 10 business days of your wedding, you will receive your weddings webpage. In this way all your guests are able to view, share and buy any prints that they require. Your wedding webpage will be available on our client page. It is up to you, the wedding client to choose if you would like your webpage to be public or password protected.
Within 20 business days of your wedding, we deliver all your items that you have included in your wedding package. We do offer the option of LATE ORDERING. All the images from the wedding are available for 12 months as standard on our website.
What is the ordering process?
If you would like copies of the images from your wedding, you can do it trough our website on your client page.
How long after I order my photos/album will I get them?
All the images that you order, are available within 5 business days. You will receive an e-mail confirmation with a tracking number when you order your images.
Will you give me the negatives or the digital images, and is there a fee for that?
We offer digital negatives of all your wedding images. There is no fee for that.
When will I receive a written contract?
Yes. On our contracts we include all the terms and all the details of the event.
How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due? Do you offer a payment plan?
We require a deposit at the signing of the contract. The deposit is the way you book the date. It is dued after we have sent you the contract. We do offer a payment plan, trough which you can pay in rates, evenly splitted up to your wedding day when the remaining balance is due.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
If the Photographer is unable to perform due to fire or other casualty, strike, or other cause beyond the control of the parties, or due to the Photographer's illness or injury, then the Photographer shall return the deposit to the Client but shall have no further liability with respect to this agreement. This limitation on liability shall also apply in the event that images are lost through equipment malfunction, lost in the mail or otherwise lost or damaged without fault on the part of the Photographer. In the event, that the Photographer fails to perform for any other reason, the Photographer shall not be liable for any amount in excess of the Photographer's fee.
Do you have liability insurance?
We are insured for commercial liability by Hicox Insurance, a part of Geico Insurance Company.
